Women Empowerment

In most households affected by addiction, it is the woman who holds everything together — the income, the children, the daily running of the house. Our women's programme works with these families, and with women from poor households generally.

What the programme covers

• Formation and support of self-help groups
• Skill training in tailoring, handicraft and small trades
• Guidance on savings, small credit and government schemes
• Counselling support for wives and mothers of residents
• Awareness of legal rights and where to seek help
• Health and nutrition awareness sessions

Meetings are held in the villages themselves, because expecting women to travel to a town office defeats the purpose.
